Al Rajhi Bank has decided to be the main sponsor for the Saudi Cup international horse race competition for three years, starting from this year. The race will be held at King Abdulaziz Square in Riyadh under the supervision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Royal Highness King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and is organized by the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia on the 19th and 20th of February.
By sponsoring the most valuable horse race in the world, a remarkable international event that’s considered a noteworthy achievement for the Kingdom, Al Rajhi Bank seeks to play a significant role in promoting Saudi Arabia at an international level. This sponsorship will also support the transformational journey to attract tourism and investment as per the Saudi Vision 2030. Al Rajhi Bank also considers its participation to be a part of its social responsibility towards the sports community amongst many other social roles it plays in the Saudi community.
The Saudi Cup consists of six high-grade international races. The International Handicap Race will be held on the 19th of February 2021 and carry the name of Al Rajhi Bank, with a prize of $500,000 and 2100 meter distance for the horses trained in the countries of the second and third groups. Likewise, The Derby Race that will be held on the 20th of February 2021 will carry the name of Al Rajhi Bank, with a prize of 1.5 million dollars.
This tournament is the most valuable horse race in the world with a total prize of $30.5 million, since it was increased from last year’s $29.2 million prize. It’s worth mentioning that the 2020 race edition was a great success and resulted in 31 winners of Grade 1.
